Importance of Cow
In the sacred tapestry of Hindu Dharma, the cow occupies a revered position, resonating through centuries of tradition, spiritual wisdom, and societal reverence. As articulated in the scriptures, including the Rigveda and Atharvaveda, the cow symbolise motherhood, fertility, and abundance. In the words of the Rigveda (6.28.1):
"ईशा विष्णुर्जगतः प्रतिष्ठा वृष्णिर्वृषाद्नेषुरोर्ध्वरेता। ध्यौस्पृथिवी परमेष्ठी तस्मै सम्राटं ब्रह्मणा विदधाति॥"
This shloka acknowledges the divine presence of the cow in the cosmos, reflecting its integral role in sustaining life.
The importance of the cow in Hindu Dharma transcends mere symbolism; it reflects a profound reverence for all life forms and embodies the ethical principles of compassion, sustainability, and interconnectedness.
Spiritual Significance
Cows hold significant spiritual symbolism in Hindu scriptures. In the Rigveda, one of the oldest texts in Hinduism, the cow is celebrated as a symbol of wealth, prosperity, and fertility. It is often depicted alongside gods and goddesses, signifying its divine status. The act of protecting and serving cows is considered a righteous duty and a path to spiritual elevation.
Symbolism and Sacredness
In Hinduism, the cow is revered as "Gau Mata" or the mother cow. This reverence stems from the belief that the cow embodies qualities of nurturing, selflessness, and abundance. The cow symbolise the Earth itself, providing sustenance and nourishment to all beings. Its milk, urine, dung, and even breath are considered sacred and possess purifying properties.
Dark Reality
Cows are left when they stop giving milk, abandoned to roam the streets in search of food, forsaken by society. With no shelter or proper care, these cows wander aimlessly, their desperation growing as they scavenge for scraps. Their search often leads them to consume garbage and discarded plastic, which only worsens their health. Malnourished and suffering from various illnesses, these animals face a grim existence, trapped in a cycle of neglect and hardship.

Every day, with care and dedication, we prepare nourishing Rotis for the cows, ensuring they have a wholesome meal. With hearts full of compassion, we serve these Rotis to the hungry and homeless cows, providing them with sustenance and love.
Together, we can amplify our impact, spreading compassion and kindness to every corner where a hungry cow awaits a morsel of food.
